Mt. Machu Picchu Entry Schedules & Availability
If you’re planning to hike Mt. Machu Picchu, keep in mind that access follows a strict schedule. The Mt. Machu Picchu Circuit 1 – Route A ticket is limited to 400 visitors per day, split into two entry times: 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
Each time slot grants access to the area near the Guardian’s House, a viewpoint from which you can see the entire Machu Picchu citadel and capture panoramic photos of the Inca city. Most visitors spend around 2 hours here, taking in the view at their own pace.
From there, you can continue up Mt. Machu Picchu, a climb that takes approximately 3 hours to reach the summit. After enjoying the views and taking your photos, you’ll descend directly to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Please note that once you leave the viewpoint area, you cannot go back to it, so we recommend taking your time to fully enjoy the experience without rushing.
If you book a private guide, they will accompany you only through the panoramic viewpoint, sharing insights about each key point of the citadel and its historical significance. However, guides are not permitted to hike up Mt. Machu Picchu itself.
