Mt Picchu representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you via private vehicle to Ollantaytambo train station. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. During this scenic drive, you’ll experience the beauty of the Sacred Valley with stunning sunrise views, traditional agricultural terraces, and lush green landscapes that reflect the region’s natural charm.
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). This scenic railway journey follows the Vilcanota River as you travel through changing landscapes—from the cool Andean highlands to the misty cloud forest. The experience offers breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, and the river below.
You arrive in Aguas Calientes in the late morning. Our guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the bus station. From there, you’ll board the bus for a 30-minute winding ascent to Machu Picchu. This journey takes you through cloud forest terrain with panoramic views of the mountain landscape.
At the main entrance of Machu Picchu, park rangers will verify your entrance tickets and passport information. Once cleared, you will enter through the authorized gate according to your selected circuit. Machu Picchu offers three different circuits, each providing a unique experience of the ancient citadel. Circuit 2 is the most popular, allowing you to explore the entire Inca citadel comprehensively. Circuit 3 focuses on the lower sections of the citadel, offering a different perspective of the site. Circuit 1 provides panoramic views but does not permit entry into the citadel itself.
Your experienced guide will lead you on a 3-hour guided tour of the ancient Inca citadel. You’ll explore temples, residential areas, agricultural terraces, and learn about the history, architecture, and spiritual significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your exploration follows the circuit selected during your booking confirmation.
In the afternoon, you’ll descend via bus back to Aguas Calientes. You board the return train to Ollantaytambo (departure times are typically 4:20 PM or 6:00 PM, depending on availability at the time of your reservation). Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo, our driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, where your unforgettable day concludes.
Optional Add-on: If you wish to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for panoramic views of the citadel, separate tickets are available (Huayna Picchu at 9:00 AM or Machu Picchu Mountain at 10:00 AM). Additional cost: $80 USD per mountain.
